Day 37: Rule of Scripture
Tuesday
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
~John 1:1, 14
The Word of God is more than black letters on a white page. The Word of God is a Person – an eternal, all-powerful, creative, life and light-giving Person! The Word is God Himself, yet God come to us in human flesh. The Word of God is Jesus!
The written Word of God points to, and is ultimately fulfilled by, the living Word of God. All of Scripture finds its authority and meaning in Him. Thus, submission to the Word of God is synonymous with faithfully following our Lord Jesus Christ.
- What is the significance of Jesus being called “the Word”?
- Read Luke 24:25-27, 44-48 and John 5:39. What does Jesus say is the key to understanding the whole Bible? How does this transform the way Christians read the Bible?
- What is an area of your life that you need to submit to the authority of Jesus today?
Lord Jesus, I believe that you are not just a revealer of the truth, but that you are the truth. Help me to see you – and be satisfied in you – as I meditate on your Word. May your Holy Spirit within me give me the desire and the ability to submit to you. For Christ’s sake, Amen.
