Day 36: Gospel-centeredness
Monday
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
~1 Corinthians 6:19b-20
God doesn’t purchase you from lawlessness, sin, and death only to release you to your own devices. He ransoms you that you may be His. Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, God claims your every moment, your every opportunity, your every desire, and your every allegiance. They’re all His. As a believer, you no longer retain the right to have the final say over your life. To outsiders, this seems oppressive. However, to those who surrender their lives to the One who surrendered His, the joy of belonging to Jesus is unsurpassable.
- What privileges are extended to you as a function of belonging to Christ?
- What are some areas of your life that you need to surrender to God’s claim?
- What is one practical way that you can celebrate the fact that you belong to Jesus today?
Lord Jesus, thank you for making me yours. Thank you for ransoming my days from futility, my joy from empty pleasures, and my life from selfish gain. Help me to find my identity more and more in my belonging to you. For Christ’s sake, Amen.
