Day 26: Engagement
Jesus found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
~John 1:43, 45-46
When Philip encountered the life-changing person of Jesus, he instinctively ran off to invite others to come and meet Him. Even though his brother scoffed at him and brushed him off, he persisted: “Come and see for yourself!” If we believe that Jesus is/has everything our world needs, won’t we have a similar heart to pursue our neighbors with simple invitations to come and meet Him in the worship and fellowship of His church?
- Read the story of the Samaritan woman in John 4:1-31. What was the woman’s natural response to meeting Jesus?
- What prevents you from inviting others to church with you?
- How will you engage your neighbors this week with a heart to see them ultimately meet and fall in love with Jesus?
Lord Jesus, break my heart for the lost who surround me. Give me a holy courage to seek them out and invite them to join me in following you in a life of worship and trust. For Christ’s sake, Amen.
