Day 2: Rule of Scripture
Tuesday
Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
~2 Peter 1:20-21
We submit our lives to God’s Word simply because it’s just that: GOD’s word. The Bible isn’t a collection of the best human wisdom, stories, predictions, and advice. It is the personal communications of the eternal God, shared in “baby talk,” so we can understand His character, His will, and His plan for the renewal of all things through Jesus.
- How would your interactions with the Bible change if you simply remembered that this was GOD’s word to you?
- What does 2 Peter 1:20-21 imply about the authority of the Bible over your life?
- What is an area of your life over which you need to recognize the authority of God’s Word?
Lord, thank you for revealing yourself through your Word. I love knowing what you are like and what you desire of me, so that I can walk in a manner that is pleasing to you. Believing that this is Your Word, I lay down my own opinions and agenda to follow you in obedient faith. For Christ’s sake, Amen.
